With more than 40 years of experience in criminalistics, Todd A. Thorne has built a distinguished career evaluating complex crime scenes, analyzing physical evidence, reconstructing violent incidents, and providing scientifically supported expert testimony. He served nearly 32 years with the City of Kenosha Police Department as the Criminalist and Forensic Unit Coordinator while simultaneously establishing his private forensic consulting practice in 2003. Today, he continues to assist clients nationwide through independent case review, technical consultation, forensic education, and expert witness testimony.

Throughout his career, Todd has authored published articles and professional photographs within the forensic science community and has been retained on both national and international cases requiring specialized forensic expertise. His work is recognized for its objectivity, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to accepted scientific methodology.

In addition to his investigative experience, Todd is a highly respected forensic educator. He is a certified instructor in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri and has trained thousands of law enforcement officers, forensic professionals, attorneys, and students throughout the United States. He has served on the instructional staff of the Nebraska Institute of Forensic Science, is currently on staff with The Death Investigation Training Academy, and has served as an adjunct instructor for several colleges teaching forensic science. Todd also served on Wisconsin's Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Evidence Training Team and was a member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's DMORT V Disaster Response Unit, providing forensic support during disaster response operations.

His leadership within the forensic community further reflects his commitment to advancing the profession. Todd has served as President, Immediate Past President, Region III Vice President, Ethics Committee Chair, and Associate Editor for the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA). He also served as President and Chairman of the Board for the Wisconsin Association for Identification (WAI), currently serves on the consulting committee for the American Investigative Society of Cold Cases, and is a member of the International Crime Scene Investigators Association (ICSIA).

Whether providing independent forensic consultation, reconstructing complex crime scenes, reviewing evidence for litigation, or offering expert testimony in court, Todd approaches every case with the same guiding principles: objectivity, scientific integrity, thorough documentation, and evidence-based conclusions. His goal is not to advocate for a particular outcome, but to help clients understand what the physical evidence truly reveals.
